- Description
- A 64 page recipe book produced by Walter Baker & Co. that contains chocolate, cocoa and homemade candy recipes. The cover of the book consists of a decorative floral border with an image of a woman holding a serving tray of hot chocolate at the center. The female chocolate server, called La Belle Chocolatiere, was adopted as the logo for Walter Baker & Co. in 1883 and is derived after a painting by the Swiss artist Jean-Étienne Liotard called Das Schokoladenmaedchen. This booklet consists of a gathering or signature of paper that is folded in half and secured at the spine with two metal staples. The cover and some interior color plates are printed with color ink on coated paper, the rest are black ink on uncoated paper.
