- Description
- Gold-colored commemorative medal for the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics. The obverse and reverse feature images and words in relief. The obverse features the official emblem of the 1996 Summer Games, a torch composed of the number [100] blow the Olympic rings, on which sit a stylized flame that turns into stars. Around the upper edge of the medal are the words [GAMES OF THE XXVI OLYMPIAD]. Across the bottom of the medal are the words [Atlanta 1996]. The reverse of the medal features the official quilted leaves theme from the 1996 Summer Games, in which oblong leaves are engraved or in relief inside various alternating engraved or in relief squares. At the top of the medal's edge is the word [CENTENNIAL] and at the bottom edge are the words [OLYMPIC GAMES].
