- Description
- An IAAF gold medal with attached ribbon. The medal has images and words in relief on both the obverse and reverse. The obverse features a [a'87] in large forced-perspective type in the center of the medal. The letters are striped horizontally green, yellow, red, and blue. Around the outer edge of the medal are the words [campionati mondiali di atletica / Roma 29 agosto / 6 settembre 1987]. The reverse features a winged female figure wearing a flowing robe and standing on a globe with a laurel crown held above her head. Above the figure are the letters [I A A F]. There is a triangular piece of metal attaching the medal to a green, yellow, red, blue, and black striped ribbon. Engraved into the obverse of the triangle are the words [SALTO IN LUNGO M./C. LEWIS].
