- Description
- This shirt is part of a suit worn by Sherman Hemsley as the character George Jefferson on the television show "The Jeffersons." The shirt is an off-white, long-sleeved, button-down dress shirt with a classic point collar. The shirt closes at the center front with seven (7) matching off-white plastic buttons, and there is one (1) v-edged pocket at the upper proper left chest. Each sleeve end is finished with a round cut cuff that fastens with two (2) off-white plastic buttons. The back of the shirt has one (1) center back pleat. At the interior base of the neck, broken threads indicate that a label was removed and the present smaller label with fiber content and care information was sewn here. Below this tag is a navy blue fabric tag with white embroidered text reading "Hathaway / Waterville, Maine". The shirt size is stamped in black ink on the interior proper left neckband. The letter "H" is machine-embroidered in red thread on the exterior proper left button band above the waist hem.
