- Description
- This necktie (ab) is part of a suit worn by Sherman Hemsley as the character George Jefferson on the television show "The Jeffersons." The shell is made of silk printed in a rust, white, and light blue paisley design on a black ground. The tie has a wide blade and a rolled hem, and is lined with a decorative tipping of maroon silk with the brand name, "Oleg Cassini," and a coat-of-arms printed in white in a repeating pattern. The tie has interlining made from two (2) layers of plain woven beige wool. The tie loop is also a designer's label with text reading "B / BULLOCK'S / SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA / by Oleg Cassini / BURMA".
- The tie has been cut in the neck area into two (2) sections to allow for easier costume changes on set, with the blade of the tie (a) being longer than the tail (b). The raw edges of the tie are exposed at the cut, though the layers were stitched together with black thread. The two sections of the tie fasten with black Velcro™.
