- July 13, 1912 check signed by Madam C. J. Walker payable to Carson Pirie Scott & Co. in the amount of $115.00. The check is a rectangular piece of cream colored paper with printed, handwritten, and stamped text on the front. The date, payable party, numerical dollar amount, and signature are handwritten. The check number is stamped in red, the letters "P.W." are stamped in purple, and the written amount is stamped in red. At the top left is a logo featuring a black shield with white text that reads "THE / FLETCHER / AMERICAN / NATIONAL / BANK / OF / INDIANAPOLIS." Letterhead centered at the top reads "The Mme. C. J.
