- Description
- A poem titled "Black Madonna" written by Harold G. Lawrence and published by Broadside Press as Broadside No. 18. The poem is printed on white paper in tan ink. At the top of the page is a depiction of an African American Madonna, in profile, looking towards the left, towards an African American baby Jesus. The Madonna has a halo behind her head, formed from beams of sunlight, and she has her proper right hand up in front of the baby with her index finger pointing out. The baby has pursed lips and also has a similar halo as the Madonna figure. Underneath the depiction is the text of the poem. The body of the poem is in two columns. The copyright, broadside number, and publisher information is printed at the bottom of the page. The back has a pricelist of additional poems sold by Broadside Press. The back side of the page is blank.
