Description
Military trench coat worn by Army Chaplain Louis J. Beasley.The double-breasted coat is made from brown wool twill with full-length straight cut sleeves and a hem reaching to mid-calf. The collar has a wide notched lapel with rounded corners and there is a strap on each shoulder that buttons with a brown plastic button under the collar. There is a flap of the brown twill on the proper right front that buttons at the bottom corner with a brown plastic button. The coat fastens at the center front with six (6) brown plastic buttons and can be closed right over left side or left over right side. At each cuff are adjustable strap closures that fasten to the coat sleeve with two (2) sets of brown plastic buttons, equalling four (4) buttons total at each cuff. The coat has an inset pocket at each side just below the waist. The front side of the pocket opening is lined with a large pocket, while the back side is left open to the interior of the garment. There is a self fabric belt with a brown plastic buckle at the waist that runs through three (3) belt loops, one in the center back and one at each front side.
The interior of the coat is lined to the waist with brown synthetic fabric. The center front opening and the skirt of the coat are lined with the brown wool twill. There is a hanger loop at the center back of the neck. There is one vertically oriented inset breast pocket at the proper left front interior. There are three (3) different tags in the interior of the coat, transcribed in the Notes.
