- Description
- Red and white star pieced block quilt with red sashing and borders. The twenty (20) blocks each contain a nine-patch star made from solid red, sold white, and printed cream cotton fabrics. The sashing and border are solid red. The blocks are hand pieced, but they are sewn to the sashing by machine. The quilt is backed with a purple, white, and pink striped cotton flannel. The edges of the red border on the top are turned to the back to form the binding. The top, cotton batting, and back are attached with hand quilting in a scalloped design using white thread. A strip of muslin with Velcro is hand sewn along the back of one edge. A fabric label is hand sewn to the recto proper left corner with handwritten text in red and black ink reading: "#13 BROKEN STAR / 76" x 64" ".
