Description
An albumen print on cabinet card depicting troops at Ft. Douglas, Salt Lake City, Utah. Captured outdoors, surrounded by tall trees and brick buildings, the troops stand in formation on a large grass-cut lawn. Below the photograph, inscribed in white ink on the gray mount, is: [Colored Troops at Ft. Douglass, / Salt Lake City].
On the reverse of the photographic card, adhered to the black backing, is a faded sepia photograph. An unidentified man and woman are captured standing near the edge of the wrap-around porch of a large white two-story house. The woman has dark hair and wears a dark long sleeve dress. The man wears a dark top-hat, dark jacket, and dark trousers. On the right of the photograph, at the back of the house, is a clothesline with clothes hanging from it. A bushy tree partially blocks the view of a roof behind it. The house depicted is surrounded by a bright wooden fence. Two long wooden beams lie on the ground near the fence.
