- A sepia tone albumen print cabinet card of a Buffalo Soldier, identified as Mr. John Baker, captured in Salt Lake City, Utah. Pictured standing in studio against a solid backdrop, with a large wood prop to his proper left, Baker gazes directly at the camera. He wears a large dark hat, dark buttoned jacket, trousers, dark shoes, and a wide utility belt. He stands on a straw or grass-like carpet. At the bottom of the photograph card, in brown ink, is: [Alseen & Co., / 69 EAST, SECOND SOUTH, / SALT LAKE CITY.]. On the reverse of the card is a handwritten inscription in graphite reading [Mr. John Baker / New Albanie / Ind] along with numerical graphite inscriptions.
