Description
A black-and-white albumen photograph depicting Joe and Jose Clark riding horses through the woods of Yellowstone, Wyoming. Captured by William Henry Jackson for the U.S. Geological Ferdinand V. Hayden Survey are Jose and Joe Clark seated on horses. From left to right, the first horseman wears a large hat, long sleeve shirt, trousers, and tall boots. A pack horse stands directly behind the first, its back is saddled high with elk meat. The second man sits astride his horse, taking up the rear. He wears a hat, long sleeve shirt, trousers, and tall boots. The men are surrounded by tall woodland and short grass. The photograph is adhered to an off-white cardboard mount with decorative scroll art on the front. Below the scroll design, in black ink, is: [Our Hunters.]. There are various handwritten inscriptions on the reverse of the photographic card, to include [303 / Wm Henry Jackson / Yellowstone. / Expedition] at the top, and [Our Hunters] at the bottom center.
