- Description
- An albumen carte-de-visite photograph depicting U. S. Army officer’s quarters at Fort Brown, Texas. Captured foremost is a large dark wood-paneled house. The house features two brick chimneys, a wide covered and fenced porch, and several windows at the front and side. Two women stand on the left side of the porch, looking towards the camera. Two children sit at and near the front steps of the house, respectively. A woman wearing a long bright dress stands on the lawn to the left of the house. She faces the camera. Across from the house, on the right of the photograph, a youth wearing a bright hat and jacket with dark trousers, leans against a skinny immature tree. Behind the youth, in the distance, are smaller buildings. At the bottom middle of the photograph inscribed in ink is: [Fiss illegible]. There are no markings on the reverse of the photographic card.
