A sepia tone cabinet photograph depicting Frederick Purkins of the 9th Cavalry, Troop G. Captured in studio against a solid backdrop, Frederick Purkins wears a cap with crossed swords emblem, dark long sleeve jacket and trousers. His proper right hand is draped across a cloth prop as he looks into the camera. In the brown border of the cabinet card’s bottom front, in white ink, is: [NIOBRARA,Cross.NEBRASKA]. There are various handwritten inscriptions on verso.
