Description
A scrapbook compiled by W.D. Williams while attending the Hampton Institute. The scrapbook has a printed ocean scene on the front cover of a man and woman walking on a beach with waves in the background. The scrapbook contains news clippings, photos, personal letters, calling cards, and class photographs. Williams played football at Hampton and the scrapbook includes numerous football programs, photographs, and news articles related to him and the team. Also included is correspondence related to his job as a waiter as well as concert and theater programs. There is an obituary for his mother, Loula T. Williams, who passed away in 1927 having never recovered from the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, and correspondence related to the death and funeral. There is also a newspaper clipping announcing the wedding of W.D. Williams to Mary S. Robertson, another Hampton Institute graduate.
