- Description
- A newsletter titled "The Nightingale," from January 1947, identified as Volume 1, Number 1. The newsletter consists of black ink printed on white paper. It is comprised of seven (7) pages stapled together in the top left corner. The cover design and section headings were hand drawn, while the remainder of the text appears typewritten. At the top of the cover is stylized text that reads: [The / NIGHTINGALE] with smaller text written underneath, [VOL 1 JANUARY 1947 no. 1]. To the left of "NIGHTINGALE" is a drawing of an academic lamp. In the center, is a large drawing of a nurse's cap surrounded by smaller images of a needle, watch, books, inkwell, mug, pan, and other medical implements. Underneath is the year [1947] in block letters with [GREETINGS] overtop. At the bottom right is the name [P BROWN]. The newsletter includes sections on Music, Class Notes, Events, and Humor. The name [Pauline M. Brown] is inscribed on the back of the last page in the top right corner.
