- Description
- This is a black-and-white photograph of a man and young boy on the National Mall during the Million Man March. The man wears a leather jacket and carries a grocery bag. He smiles directly at the viewer. The boy wears an oversize jacket and baseball cap. Both hold signs that read "MILLION / MAN / MARCH / WASHINGTON, DC, OCTOBER 16, 1995 / UNITED / STRONG / FOR A DAY OF / ATONEMENT." Behind them in the distance is a man in a poncho and sunglasses. Beyond him is a large crowd against a backdrop of trees and a tall platform.
