- A 1982 Naval Academy graduate, Michelle Howard commanded Task Force 151 in 2009, which freed Captain Richard Phillips and other hostages from the Maersk Alabama. In 2014, she became the first female four-star admiral in the Navy, as well as the highest-ranking Black woman in the military, and was appointed vice chief of naval operations.

- These US Navy fatigues were worn by Admiral Michelle Howard as rear admiral (lower half) while serving as the coordinator of the mission to rescue Captain Richard Phillips, who was captured by Somali pirates after they attacked the merchant ship Maersk Alabama in 2009. The fatigues include a camouflage cap (.1), a camouflage flak jacket (.2), a pair of camouflage pants (.3), an olive brown t-shirt (.4), an olive brown thermal undershirt (.5), and a pair of tan combat boots (.6ab).
