Description
A digital aerial photograph of remnant rice fields along a section of the Combahee River in Colleton County, South Carolina. The river, which can be seen just above the center of the photograph, appears sea blue in contrast to the bright green fields nearby. Vestigial dikes, “quarter ditches,” and canals are all visible in the fields, creating geometric patterns in the landscape. One field, seen just below the river, is partially flooded, while a small cluster of trees can be seen to its right, along the photograph's right edge.
