NC - Cape Fear River. Somewhat an illustration of old and the new. A container ship leaving Wilmington at high tide. Remnants of a rice field on the island. –Description from photographer, David Soliday.
Description
A digital aerial photograph depicting a freight ship on Cape Fear River. The ship, which appears red, white, and grey in the sunlight, can be seen sailing south, toward the Atlantic. Waves and an effervescent trail in its wake extend all the way to the image’s right edge. Just below the ship a section of Keg Island is visible, while another island in the river’s channel, Campbell Island, exhibits vestigial “quarter ditches” on its southside. Town Creek can also be seen flowing into Cape Fear River in the far right.
