Caption
"Carolina Gold" rice grains photographed on film in the late 1980's at Turnbridge Plantation near Bluffton, SC. These fields are the first to attempt a resurrection of the famous strain. The planter was Dr. Richard Schultz. –Description from photographer, David Soliday.
Description
A digital scan of a photograph depicting rice fields at Turnbridge Plantation in South Carolina. The left and bottom edges show the water saturating the fields. The plants in these waters are flattened. Farther away from the camera, the brown tops of the rice plants that are not flattened extend in the distance, creating a horizon across the top third of the photo. Taller trees in the distance protrude above this rice-field horizon.
