- Description
- A digital aerial photograph of remnant rice fields along a section of the Combahee River in Beaufort County, North Carolina. The river, which appears silverish under the orange sunset, makes a deep meander around the remnant fields. Flooded vestigial canals and “quarter ditches” within the fields also look silver in the sunlight. To the left, an islet in the river’s channel is partially visible, while the confluence at which Cuckolds Creek flows into the Combahee can be seen in the top right.
