SC – Edisto River. Illustration of a field on Willtown Bluff, a first settlement in SC and involved in the Yemassee Wars. I find the patterns of vegetation interesting. –Description from photographer, David Soliday.
Description
A digital aerial photograph of a remnant rice field along a section of the Edisto River running through Willtown Bluff in South Carolina. The river can be seen in the bottom left corner, appearing black against the green and brown grasslands nearby. A field is visible in the middle of the image. A canal accompanied by a narrow strip of green vegetation makes an outline in the field. Patches of water in the field look black against the brown grass, while faint vestigial “quarter ditches” occupy other parts of the field. The grass in an adjacent plot, to the right, is considerably greener. Taller trees are visible in the distance, some appear grey and leafless, however, greener trees can also be seen near to them.
