- Document confirming the free status of Eleanor Brooks and Mary Wheaton. The document is handwritten on yellowed paper in brown ink. The document reads "On this 2nd day of September 1826 personally appears / Daniel Emory before the subscriber a Justice / of the Peace in and for said County and made / oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God / that he doth know both Eleanor Brooks and Mary Wheaton the two Mulatto women / now in my presence were born free. / Sworn Before / George Roberts." Handwritten text on the back of the document in the top right corner reads “Attest of / Daniel Emory / filed 2nd Sept. / 1826."
