- This hardcover book is covered in a green, waved pattern. The front cover has two gold leaf design-detailed bands which are placed close to the top and bottom edge of the front cover. In the center of the front cover is an oval-shaped portrait of Phillis Wheatley seated at a desk with parchment in her left hand. The portrait is encircled by a gold leaf ribbon. Above and below the portrait are lines of gold script. The first line reads [The Poems of]. The second line reads [Phillis Wheatley].
