- Description
- Sixteen-patch scrap quilt with feed sack backing. The quilt top consists of twenty-five (25) sixteen-patch blocks made from mismatched scraps. The blocks are separated with long scraps of mismatched sashing. There are borders of blue and white plaid check fabric on the top and bottom, with no outer side borders. The fabrics are a variety of colors with mostly printed designs, though some have woven designs. They are primarily cotton, with a few scraps of rayon. The back of the quilt is made from feed sacks pieced together with faded blue, red, and black ink still partly visible on some of them. Cotton batting is placed between the top and back, which are hand quilted together in a fan pattern with white thread. The edges of the back are turned to the front and sewn down to form the binding.
