- Description
- Log cabin variation pieced scrap quilt with feed sack backing. The top consists of nine (9) large log cabin variation blocks with the center of each block having a four-patch and the colors of the pieces arranged diagonally from light to dark on all but one block. The fabrics are a variety of woven, printed, and solid patterns in mostly cotton, but also with linen, wool, and mixed fabrics. There are borders of different widths on three (3) sides made from long strips of fabric, with the one vertical edge border made from the same floral print cotton gauze. The quilt back is made from several feed sacks pieced together, some with faint printed text in red and black ink still visible. The back is seamed to the front along the one vertical edge with a border, with the other three edges of the back turned to the front and sewn down to form binding. The two layers are hand quilted together in white thread in a pattern of concentric squares corresponding to the blocks on the top side. There is no batting or other filler inside the quilt.
