- The photograph on this postcard was taken by Arthur P. Bedou. Bedou was an American documentary and portrait photographer based in New Orleans. For nearly seven decades (1899-1966) Bedou photographed both everyday life and national events. He is most well-known for his images of New Orleans, Booker T. Washington, Tuskegee Institute, Xavier University of Louisiana, jazz bands, and photographs for The Louisiana Weekly and The Times-Picayune.

- A hand-tinted photographic postcard of the Mansion and Ballard buildings on the Tougaloo College campus. The postcard depicts the two buildings on a grassy lawn. The Mansion, on the left, has a porch supported by square pillars with an arch over the entrance. Trees are scattered across the lawn. Red text in the top left corner reads [Mansion ad Ballard Bldg., Tougaloo University, Tougaloo, Mass.]. The [Mass.] is corrected to Miss. with red ink. There are numbers in white ink printed in the bottom corner. The back of the postcard is divided into two sections, one for a handwritten message and on for an address; both are blank. At center, printed in blue ink is text that reads [Post Card / Message / Address]. In the upper right corner, there is a stamp box with dots and text in the center that reads [Place / Stamp here / Domestic / 1 c / Foreign / 2 c]. Black text running vertically along the left edge of the card that reads [Publ. by A.P. Bedou, New Orleans, La. No. 101 Made in Germany.].
