Description
A picture postcard featuring a 1905 image of Booker T. Washington on a horse. Washington is pictured seated on a dark horse, wearing dark colored jacket, vest, pants, and boots with a lighter colored hat. The horse is pictured in profile and Washington is turned slightly towards the camera, his proper left hand holding the reins and his proper right hand at his hip. In the background are two buildings of the Tuskegee Institute, a three-story brick building to the left and a three-story white building to the right.
The reverse of the postcard features a handwritten message that begins [Dear Jack & Linda] and signed [Warmly, Teresa]. It is dated [5/13/08]. At the top left corner is printed [Booker T. Washington, American black leader and educator / (1856-1915) / Photograph by Frances Benjamin Johnston, c. 1905 / Courtesy Library of Congress / 2088 Pomegranate Communications, Inc.].
