- Description
- This black and white photograph depicts Father Phil Berrigan performing a sodalist communion. Father Berrigan stands at the extreme left of the photograph in a long dark robe. Gathered around the room in a semi-circle is a group of young men on their knees. Wearing suits or blazers and ties, they young men focus their attention on Father Berrigan. Three young men lean their elbows on a prayer bench. There is a religious statue on the wall behind them. The young man wearing glasses is possibly Henry English Braden IV, former Louisiana state senator from District 3. In the photograph's margins is text that reads "N.O. La. St. Augustine H.S. sodalists - 1961- Phil Berrigan." On the verso is a sticker with the text "Religion 7 -Berrigan/ Sodality."
