- Description
- Ivory silk faille slip worn by Florance Colgate Rumbough Trevor as part of her wedding ensemble. The slip was custom made by Ann Lowe for use under the wedding dress 2014.73.1.1. It is made from ivory silk faille with a fitted bodice ending at the natural waist and a full floor-length skirt. The sweetheart neckline is trimmed in ivory floral lace and there are spaghetti straps made from a darker cream silk faille sewn at each shoulder. A ruffle made from ivory silk chiffon is sewn around the knee of the skirt with the ruffle extending loose to the bottom hem of the slip and the upper seam trimmed in satin ribbon that is loosely twisted and tacked down, ending in a pre-tied bow at the proper left front side. There are two (2) bands of floral lace sewn around the chiffon ruffle near the bottom, separated by a band of the chiffon. The slip closes at the center back with a zipper and one (1) hook-and-eye.
- The interior bodice is self-lined with boning sewn around the bodice between the facing and lining. The edge of the hem on the skirt is trimmed in stiff net. A cream fabric label with red printed text reading "Ann Lowe" is sewn at the interior proper left front side of the bodice.
