Description
A color photograph of a barber and client at Jerry's Den barbershop in Harlem.
The image depicts the barber on the left, facing the camera and holding clippers up to his client, who is sitting with his back to the camera. The barber wears a red collared shirt over a black long-sleeve shirt and red-framed glasses with snakeskin accents. He has carved the shape of a basketball player into the back of the client's hair. The client wears a black barber shop cape around his shoulders. Elements of the interior of the shop, a potted plant, a wood paneled wall, and a sign above a mirror, are visible in the dim background. A handwritten inscription beneath the image reads ["JERRY'S DEN" HARLEM '89] along with the photographer's signature [Ricky Powell / '03].
