- Description
- A black-and-white linocut, Trusty on a Mule, by Hale Woodruff, printed at Bob Blackburn’s Printmaking Shop in New York City, 1996. The print depicts a shirtless male prisoner seated sideways on a mule beneath bare winter trees. The man wears a hat, bandanas around his neck, and the black and white striped trousers of a prison uniform. A lone bird is perched on the only long branch of the rightmost tree. The mule appears to be stepping forward amidst the surrounding grass and foliage. In the bottom margins is the edition, [78/100] at left and [© Hale Woodruff] at right. There are no markings on the verso.
