- Description
- A black-and-white linocut, Sunday Promenade, by Hale Woodruff, printed at Bob Blackburn’s Printmaking Shop in New York City, 1996. The print depicts a group of men and women, dressed in their Sunday clothes, strolling along a road. Facing the viewer are three women, each in dresses, hats, and high heels. One of them holds a black dog by a leash. Behind them, a couple walks in the other direction. The man wears a suit and a checked hat, and the woman wears a dress with ruffled shoulders and hem, and a flower-adorned hat. Wooden structures line the road on either side, and a wooden church, with bell tower and arched doorway, sits at the far end. In the bottom margins is the edition, [78/100] at left and [© Hale Woodruff] at right. There are no markings on the verso.
