- American long-distance runner Ted Corbitt joined the New York Pioneer Club, the nation's first integrated running organization, in 1947. Corbitt was a marathon champion and a pioneer of ultramarathons in the United States. He was among the first five athletes inducted into the National Distance Running Hall of Fame in Utica, N.Y., in 1998.

- An off white knit New York Pioneer Club racing shirt worn by Tedd Corbitt.
- The shirt is sleeveless. There are navy fleece letters across the chest which read [NYPC]. The fleece is worn around the edges. There are some small holes, frayed areas, and stains on the front of the shirt. There is a white tag with tattered edges sewn on the interior of the neck. It has text in red thread which reads [WILTON / "since 189(?) / HONEYCOMB KNIT / MEDIUM]. There are stains and tattered areas on the back of the shirt as well.
