This slide is part of a collection of 35mm slides encapsulating Robert Houston's full portfolio of images related to the Poor People's Campaign and the antipoverty protest camp on the National Mall. Known as "Resurrection City," the camp lasted for six weeks in the spring of 1968.
Description
This color transparency depicts a little girl sitting on a woman's lap. The little girl wears a yellow pattered dress. She has a large doll in a loose dress propped against her legs. The woman sits on a folding chair under a large tree, with her left arm wrapped around the girl. The tree has a rope wrapped around its trunk, and tent lines staked on the ground beyond it.
