Description
This stereograph card depicts a "pickaninny" caricatured figure in a posed barnyard scene. The stereograph card consists of two similar images side by side, with the images in the center of the card. At the center of the scene is a figure dressed in striped overalls, a white shirt, and a large hat. The figure leans his left elbow against a large watermelon. To the right is a rooster and behind are large haybales and sheaves of wheat. At either end of the card is vertical script. On the left side is script that reads "The Universal Photo Art Co. / C.H. Graves Photographer, Phila U.S.A." On the left side margin is script that reads “Philadelphia, Naperville Ill. / London, Paris, Hamburg." At the bottom right margin is script that reads "4704 Pickanninnie's Paradise. or Between Two Temptations/ Copyright 1904 by C.H. Graves."
