- Description
- A compilation reel with clips from The Judy Garland Show (television series) and The Judy Garland Show (television special), aired on CBS. It consists of a single reel of positive, black-and-white, 16mm acetate film with bilateral variable-area optical sound. The first clip in the compilation opens with Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand on an empty set; both women are clad in plaid long-sleeve shirts. Actor Jerry Van Dyke walks unto the set and says, "Here is your set; we just saved a fortune" and leaves two stools for them. The trio engages in a brief conversation that ends with Garland saying "Well, listen, there is one thing they cannot cut out of the budget, and that's our voices." The women then sing a medley consisting of songs such as "Hooray for Love," "After You've Gone," "By Myself," "How About You," "It All Depends on You," and others. In the next clip, Ms. Garland sings "Just in Time" with Mort Lindsey seated beside her playing the piano. Other scenes include Barbra Streisand performing "Down with Love," while large arrows on the set rotate to point at her and Judy Garland on a stage singing "How About Me." In another clip, taken from The Judy Garland Show: Christmas Special, Judy Garland sings "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" with two of her children, Lorna and Joey Luft, seated beside her on a sofa. The last clip in the compilation is taken from The Judy Garland Show television special and features Garland performing songs like "San Francisco," “Rock-a-bye Baby with a Dixie Melody” and several others.
