- Description
- A silver gelatin print depicting a black-and-white image of a group of four (4) men participating in the March on Washington, August 28, 1963. All of the men are wearing banded fedoras and suits. Three (3) of the men are seated in the foreground on a grassy area with their backs to the viewer. They are facing a man who is kneeling on his proper right knee with his hands crossed and resting on his raised, proper, left knee. The kneeling man is facing the viewer with his eye closed. There is a white pin back button on his proper right lapel. In the background of the image are other participants standing and walking around on the grassy area and pathways. Most of the people in the background have their backs to the viewer.
- On the verso of the image are handwritten inscriptions that provide publication information, image date, event information, location, image number, the name of the printer, and the signature of the donor. There is also the photographer’s label as well as a stamp mark in black ink in the bottom right corner of the verso.
