Description
A silver gelatin print depicting a black-and-white image of a group of participants standing behind a wood and metal wire barrier fencing taken on the day of the March on Washington, August 28, 1963. Six (6) women and three (3) men are standing on the right side of the image, behind the fencing. In the foreground, on the right side of the image, a woman has hung a light colored purse on a post on the other side of the fencing. On the left side of the image is a grassy area. In the background is a line of trees.
On the verso of the image are handwritten inscriptions that provide publication information, image date, event information, location, image number, the name of the printer, and the signature of the donor. There is also the photographer’s label as well as two (2) stamp marks in black ink in the bottom right corner of the verso.
