- Description
- A silver gelatin print depicting a black-and-white image of a man wading in the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool during the twentieth anniversary of the March on Washington, August 27, 1983. The man is depicted to the left of center, standing in the Reflecting Pool, under a fountain spout. His eyes are closed and he is wearing wired rimmed glasses, shorts and a t-shirt with a graphic of a wheel. The wheel has five (5) arms extending like spokes and hands clasped over each wrist, forming a pentagon shape with a peace symbol in the center. The wheel is knocking down six (6) nuclear missiles. Below the graphic is text that reads [SPOKESPERSONS / For / PREVENTION / OF NUCLEAR WAR].
- On the verso of the image are handwritten inscriptions that provide the image date, event information, location, image number, the name of the printer, and the signature of the donor. There are also two (2) stamp marks in black ink in the bottom right corner of the verso.
