Description
A promotional proof booklet for the upcoming publication "The Sweet Breath of Life: A Poetic Narrative of the African-American Family," a collaborative work by Ntozake Shange and Kamoinge photographers.
The cover features a nearly full-page photograph of an older man wearing a hat and a white jacket, holding a bouquet of flowers in his proper left hand. Along the right side of the cover, is white text against a dark purple background reading: [THE / SWEET / BREATH / of LIFE / A Poetic Narrative of / the African-American / Family / Poems by / NTOZAKE SHANGE / Photographs Edited by / FRANK STEWART / Photographs by / KAMOINGE, INC.]. The title page reads [Poems by / NTOZAKE SHANGE] followed by a list of seventeen photographers, accompanied by seventeen black and white photographs of various sizes and subjects. The remaining pages of the book feature a sample of the photographs and poems that will appear in the full publication.
