- Description
- An inscribed promotional poster for a production of For Colored Girls… presented by the Prince George's Arts Council and directed by Shirley Jo Finney.
- The poster has a white background with a watercolor-style center graphic of the play’s title “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf,” above a semi-abstract portrait of a woman’s face. The graphic is mostly red, pink, and brown in color with green highlights. Printed to the right is a logo of the Prince George’s Arts Council, followed by text about the production. The bottom quarter of the poster is a block of red with a logo for Prince George’s Community College, information about presenting sponsors, and a notice of a panelist with the playwright and director. The poster has eight handwritten inscriptions, all in black ink, with messages of gratitude to Shange including: “Thank you for changing my life and allowing me to interpret your art…you saw what I didn’t and now I will do it justice!” signed “Sydney L. Lady in Red” and “Thank you for inspiring me to read + become an actress. You mean more to me than you’ll ever know!” signed “Sara F.” The back of the poster is white, without printing or inscriptions.
