Description
This tête revolver from Saint Lucia made by Audrey Augustin is formed from a Madras style plaid in red, blue, and yellow. The cotton plaid is wrapped with a smooth crown and a wide band around the sides, then twisted at the back and pinned at the center back crown, with a portion of the twist left looser and falling over the proper left back below the body of the headdress. The twist is attached with pins as well as an adhesive or binding agent that is used to form and stiffen the entire headdress. The ends of the fabric are serged with white thread. The interior of the headdress is formed from the same length of plaid cloth, with a layer of stiff paper between the interior and exterior. There are no labels.
