From left to right, the men in front are: unidentified man, John Lewis, Matthew Ahmann, Floyd MicKissick, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Cleveland Robinson, Rabbi Joachim Prinz, Joseph Rauh, Whitney Young, Roy Wilkins, A. Philip Randolph, Walter Reuther, an unidentified man, and Eugene Carson Blake. All the march leaders wear dark suits with white shirts and dark neckties except for Blake, who wears a clerical collar, and Rauh, who wears a bowtie. Most of the men also wear white and black March on Washington buttons. Behind the men, signs held aloft read [WE / MARCH / FOR / JOBS / FOR ALL / NOW!], [WE / DEMAND / DECENT HOUSING / NOW!], and [END / SEGREGATED / RULES / IN / PUBLIC / SCHOOLS].
