Description
A black and white image of the March organizers during the March on Washington, standing as a line in front of other marchers.
The image depicts a line of men standing together, many clasping hands, in front of a crowd of marchers holding signs. From left to right, the men in front are: Floyd MicKissick, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Eugene Carson Blake, Cleveland Robinson (his face is turned away from the camera), Rabbi Joachim Prinz, an unidentified man, Whitney Young, Roy Wilkins, Walter Reuther, A. Philip Randolph and two unidentified men. All the men wear dark suits with white shirts and dark neckties except for Blake, who wears a clerical collar, and the unidentified man between Prinz and Young, who wears a bowtie. Most of the men also wear white and black March on Washington buttons. Behind the men, signs held aloft read [I.U.E. / AFL-CIO / FOR / FULL EMPLOYMENT], [WE / MARCH / FOR / JOBS / FOR ALL / NOW!], [WE / MARCH / FOR / INTEGRATED / SCHOOLS / NOW!], [WE / MARCH / FOR / FIRST CLASS / CITIZENSHIP / NOW!] AND [INDUSTRIAL / UNION DEPT. / AFL-CIO / SUPPORTS / MARCH FOR / FREEDOM / & JOBS]. They stand on pavement and trees are in the background.
