- Description
- A first edition of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference's (SCLC) Handbook for Freedom Army Recruits. The handbook consists of twelve pages of ink on white paper. The front cover has a blue SCLC logo and the title of the handbook at center. The interior cover has a black and white photograph of Martin Luther King, Jr., and a prefatory message written by King. The interior pages include information such as: "Code of Discipline," "Rules for Prison," "Clothing & Equipment To Bring With You When You Report For Duty," "Suggested Reading," and "Freedom Songs." The back exterior cover has two commitment cards to be filled out and mailed to the recruitment center.
