- Description
- An elongated brick, or “double brick,” made by an enslaved person. The brick comes from the north-east cistern on the lawn of the Old Warren County Courthouse, Vicksburg, Mississippi. It is a solid style, extruded brick. The rectangular brick is dark reddish brown in color with worn surfaces and edges. The Old Slave Mart Museum catalog number, [R167], is handwritten in black ink over a small rectangular patch of white paint in the bottom left corner one of the brick's faces. The same face has a series of hand-extruded lines running horizontally across the surface. The other face has large patches of grayish-white mortar on the surface mostly near the header edges. There are smaller patches of mortar residue on the stretchers and one header. One header edge is slightly rounded.
