- Description
- A brick with an egg and dart brick pattern from an unknown architectural structure. It is a solid style, terracotta, rectangular brick, hand molded using a press mold. The pattern is on one stretcher side of the brick and is slightly rounded. There are two complete and one partial relief egg motifs framed within ovals. Between are relief darts with curlicues on either side of the darts. The brick is dark reddish brown in color with wear along the edges. There is a significant loss at a corner where the header meets the decorative stretcher. The Old Slave Mart Museum catalog number, [R156], is handwritten in black ink over a small rectangular patch of white paint in a corner of one of a brick’s faces. Cement mortar residue covers most of the other brick face. Salt efflorescence covers most surfaces of the brick.
