- Description
- A scythe with a wooden snath, or handle. The scythe’s metal blade is elongated and curved with a deep notch on the blade edge close to the neck. The blade has been repaired with a thin piece of metal attached to the side of the blade. The side of the blade has three (3) raised lines. The blade is attached to the top of the handle to a thick metal hafting collar that wraps around the top of the handle, held in place with a metal bolt and washer. One side of the collar has an elongated U-shape plate with three rectangular slots that is braced against the scythe shaft. A ring loops through the collar on the elongated side. The scythe tang has been threaded through the ring and inserted into the top right of the three rectangular slots. Directly below the tang is a light patch of scored wood. The handle shaft is rounded, has a natural curve near the center, and tapers near the bottom.
